Renting a Bounce House

The mom-friendly guide to a safe, happy party

Before you book

How to rent a bounce house: a simple checklist

Five things to settle before you call. Then book with the company that actually delivers to your house.

  1. 1. Measure the yard and the path

The driver needs a clear path from the truck to the setup spot. A combo or water slide needs more room than a plain bounce house.

  2. 2. Check the power

The blower stays plugged in the whole rental. At home, that means an outdoor outlet. At a park, it usually means a generator, because parks rarely have power.

  3. 3. Pick the unit

A bounce house is the simple castle. A combo adds a slide or obstacles. A water slide is the hot-day choice. Carnival games and concessions are extras, not a substitute for the inflatable.

  4. 4. Ask about rain and wind

Rain is often still a party. Sustained wind of 15 mph is not. Read the weather page before you promise the kids a sure thing.

  5. 5. Name the adult who will stay

One grown-up stays at the entrance the entire time kids are on it. That is the safety plan. Shoes and silly string stay outside.
